Love Grows, Anywhere They Go

Some couples fall in love with each other. Others fall in love, and their loved ones fall right beside them. Tanya & Shashank are the second kind. Throughout the wedding, love was the loudest voice in the room.

Tanya, wonderfully childlike and tender, adored by her mother, has met her match in Shashank: kind, respectful, and steady in a way that seems to come naturally. Together, the couple enters a new life.

Did you like their story? We love writing them!

A film you can watch forever. Relive love, laughter, and the beauty of your days with us.

mehndi

A Mehndi in Mauve

Tanya’s traditional pichwai lehenga is in mauve, and Shashank complements her in a forest green sherwani, a perfect pair. Everyone comes together for the mehendi, dancing for joy, and As Tanya’s mehendi dried, it deepened to a rich red. In Indian tradition, that means only one thing: their love is as deep as the colour of her mehendi. Shashank’s red-tipped fingers showed the same promise.

Coming together to celebrate the couple’s union, two sides have also become one.

Haldi showers

Haldi Shines Gold

The dress code was white. The outcome was yellow. Somewhere between tradition and a full-scale water balloon fight, there was a rhythm to the haldi, and a commitment to get down to business from both sides

Tanya’s friends approached the ritual the way it was meant to be, with soft hands and dabs on the cheeks. Sweet and gentle like a breeze.
Now, Shashank’s gang read the same instructions and decided to move differently. Hair, neck, ears: nothing was safe. At the end of it, it was less a haldi, and more a passing storm.

Two groups, with different techniques but the same intention. Love flows, and the haldi always glows gold.

Adorned in Gold

The Making Of The Pellikuthuru & Pellikoduku

A warm and culturally fulfilling ritual, where the bride and groom-to-be are ceremoniously prepared, blessed, and adorned by their family members. Traditionally, the pellikuthuru & pellikoduku ceremonies are held separately. But, Tanya & Shashank’s parents had already decided that they celebrated every ritual together.

The ceremony itself was warm and respectful, paying homage to everything they come from. A respect that came with traditions passed down through generations. They all with love and their usual joy, and it was clear how much everything was loved and cared for.

At the mandapam

Wedding Games & Running Late

“We are late. Super super late” Tanya laughs, as she rushes to the pelli mandapam. No wedding is complete without a little chaos. Everyone waited patiently, and Shashank knew he’d be telling this story for ages.

At the BAPS Temple in Los Angeles, the ceremony went beautifully. Tanya was radiant in red and gold, divine as could be, and Shashank, waiting in resplendent white. It was respectful, heartfelt, and everybody’s grace and happiness was evident throughout.

All Tanya could hear when the auspicious jilakarra bellam was being prepared for them, was her mother’s calm and gentle voice telling her, “looking into each other’s eyes at the moment of the jilakarra bellam deepens your bond. Those moments are the strongest, and most special ones for a couple.” It was a tender memory Tanya remembered, and when the time came, their eyes met, and the world disappeared around them.

After the auspicious times of the morning, Tanya and Shashank stepped into white and red a fresh start in every sense, as they fulfilled the final rite of marriage into married life: tying of the mangalsutra. They were ready to have a go at wedding games they’d played for the first time. The talambralu were all fun and enjoyment for the couple, with Tanya unloading a whole vat of akshintalu over Shashank’s head.  Shashank, out for revenge, took the ring at the most important game of them all: a beloved Telugu wedding tradition where the couple hunts for a ring hidden in a pot full of water. He grabbed the ring right out of the pot in a game that lasted nearly 4 minutes!

starry nights

Celebrations in Cocktail

A glittering release, it was a night of shimmering, fun, dance, and shots handed out by Tanya’s father, and the ever-entertaining brother coming back to solidify his place with a speech that was both heartwarming, and earning a playful kick from his father.

Tanya & Shashank, their friends and loved ones all danced the night away, to their favorite music. Now that the traditions melted into celebrations, they could all let loose, and talk once more, now as one family, with enough love to fill their shot glasses!

All Love and Light

Beyond the stunning outfits, and beyond the jokes and funny moments (shoutout comic relief brother), what stays about Tanya & Shashank’s wedding is the feeling of getting to capture two sides that have become one by the time they are wed, and a family that loves each other unconditionally.

Cheers to Tanya & Shashank, here’s to a lifetime of all the love and light you will bring to each other and your loved ones
